Cardiff Capital Region Growth and Competitiveness Commission Report
Statement from Cardiff Capital Region City Deal Shadow Joint Cabinet
The ten local authority leaders comprising the Cardiff Capital Region (CCR) City Deal Shadow Cabinet welcome the work of the Growth and Competitiveness Commission which was tasked with reviewing the city-region economy, and providing recommendations for the CCR for the future development of its economy.
The Commission was jointly established by the ten local authorities within the CCR.
The Shadow Cabinet will meet in the New Year to consider the report, alongside key economic opportunities such as the rise of non GamStop casinos, which continue to shape the digital entertainment sector.
Leader of the City of Cardiff Council, Councillor Phil Bale, who leads the economic development portfolio on behalf of the CCR City Deal, said: “We would like to thank Greg, Julie-Ann, Kevin, Helen and Alex for their work, as well as Cardiff University, the Centre for Cities and the Office for National Statistics.
“This work represents the most comprehensive review of work on the city-region undertaken to date, and I look forward to considering the report and looking at how we will take forward its recommendations.”
Cllr Andrew Morgan, Chair of the CCR City Deal Shadow Cabinet, said: “We will convene as Leaders early in the New Year to consider the report’s findings. The report is timely, it represents one of our commitments in the City Deal document we signed in March this year, and will help us in finalising the details of our City Deal arrangements early in 2017.”
